Mechanical Project Manager

Overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Project Manager with a strong mechanical background to join a high-profile project in North London. This is a key role in the delivery of phase 2 of a landmark development for a major local authority client. We’re looking for someone who can hit the ground running, manage project teams effectively, and ensure delivery on time, within budget, and in line with health and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the full project lifecycle, including planning, scheduling, budgeting, and delivery.

  • Lead communication with subcontractors, engineers, supervisors, and key stakeholders.

  • Ensure the project aligns with client specifications and commercial targets.

  • Monitor compliance with policies, procurement processes, and legal requirements.

  • Provide regular updates to senior management and attend client progress meetings.

  • Oversee and guide Site Supervisors to ensure smooth day-to-day operations.

  • Carry out quotations, site inspections, and health & safety checks.

  • Troubleshoot any issues or delays and ensure smooth project progression.

Skills & Experience Required

Qualifications & Certifications

  • Relevant Gas Safe qualifications (CPA1, COCDN1, CIGA1, ICPN1, TPCP1, BMP1, CORT1)

  • SMSTS or SSSTS certified

  • Strong knowledge of boiler houses and plant rooms (from 100kW to 5MW)

Key Skills

  • Strong leadership and communication abilities

  • Commercially aware with excellent project delivery skills

  • Ability to remain calm under pressure and solve problems effectively

  • Experienced in motivating and managing site teams

  • Competent in Microsoft Office and general project coordination tools

Experience

  • Proven experience managing mechanical projects

  • Experience in social housing or public sector environments is highly desirable

Additional Information

  • Full UK driving licence (preferred)

  • Must be fluent in English

  • Willingness to undergo an Enhanced DBS check

  • Flexible approach – some out-of-hours work may be required
