EML Engineer

Job Title: Emergency Lighting (EML) Engineer
Location: London Based
Salary: £30,000 – £50,000 (Dependent on Experience) + Overtime + Training + Benefits
Type: Full-Time, Permanent
Start Date: ASAP


Overview:

We are urgently seeking a motivated and hands-on Emergency Lighting Engineer (Improver) to join a growing and well-established compliance contractor working across Enfield. This is a fantastic opportunity for a junior or improver-level engineer looking to gain experience, receive on-the-job training, and grow a long-term career in the electrical and life safety industry.

You’ll be supporting inspections, testing, and minor repairs of emergency lighting systems across commercial and residential properties. This role offers excellent development potential for someone who’s enthusiastic and keen to build a technical career.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with the inspection and testing of emergency lighting systems

  • Carry out flick testing and reporting on compliance

  • Support engineers on reactive and planned maintenance tasks

  • Complete minor repairs or replacements as directed

  • Ensure all work is completed in line with current safety regulations (e.g. BS5266)

  • Maintain accurate records and report any defects or non-compliance

  • Liaise with site teams, supervisors, and clients in a professional manner

  • Follow health and safety procedures at all times


Requirements:

  • Some practical experience with emergency lighting systems (either testing, inspection, or basic installation)

  • Keen to learn and develop with training and on-site support

  • Basic electrical knowledge; 18th Edition or equivalent preferred

  • Strong attention to detail and willingness to follow compliance processes

  • Ability to work as part of a team and under supervision

  • Full UK driving licence is essential
