Barry O’Callaghan

Barry is the Sales and Technical Director at Rubix M&E, bringing with him over 21 years of hands-on experience within the Mechanical & Electrical sector. Starting out as an apprentice, he steadily progressed through the ranks to become Director of Operations before moving into his current role. This journey has given him a unique, first-hand understanding of the industry from the ground up.

Although agency recruitment is a new chapter for Barry, he has spent over two decades hiring, mentoring and developing teams across a wide variety of M&E projects. His extensive technical expertise, combined with strong leadership and commercial insight, enables him to fully grasp client requirements while recognising the true capabilities of candidates.

Barry’s approach to recruitment is built on honesty, integrity and experience. Having walked in the same shoes as many of the candidates he supports, he offers practical and genuine advice, helping people not just to secure a role but to carve out a lasting career in the M&E sector. His communication skills, organisation and commitment to continuous improvement ensure he consistently delivers the best outcomes for both clients and candidates alike.

An interesting fact about Barry is that, despite more than 20 years spent working on complex M&E projects, he still gets told off at home for not putting up a shelf – apparently, “I’ve been busy” is no longer an acceptable excuse!
